1. About EDU Plus Apps
EDU Plus Apps (“we,” “us,” or “our”), publisher of EDU Mileage+, respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Service.
The “Service” includes the EDU Mileage+ mobile application (the “App”), any related support we provide, and any future websites or properties operated under the EDU Plus Apps name.
This Policy applies to users located in the United States. For users located in California, the additional terms in the California section below also apply.
2. How the Service Works
EDU Mileage+ automatically detects when you depart from and arrive at saved work sites, records GPS waypoints along your route, and calculates mileage. All trip data is stored on your device and synced to your personal iCloud account. You classify trips, build reports, and export mileage records for employer reimbursement — all without creating an account with us or sending your data to any server we operate.
3. What Data Is Collected
Location Data
The App collects precise geolocation information to detect when you leave a work site, record GPS waypoints during a drive, and detect when you arrive at a destination. Background location access is required for the App to track trips while not in the foreground. Location data is stored only on your device and in your personal iCloud account.
Motion Activity Data
The App uses Apple’s Core Motion framework (CMMotionActivityManager) to classify vehicle movement and detect stops, which helps determine when a trip has ended. Motion classifications are evaluated in memory only and are not stored persistently.
User Profile (Optional)
You may enter your name, email address, job title, employee ID, and mobile phone number in the User Profile section of Settings. This information is used solely to populate exported mileage reports. It is stored on your device and in your iCloud account.
Trip and Site Data
Trip records — including start time, end time, GPS route, distance, purpose, and notes — and site records — including name, address, and GPS coordinates — are the core data the App is designed to manage. This data is stored on your device and synced to your personal iCloud account.
Subscription Status
The App uses Apple’s StoreKit framework to manage subscriptions. We do not collect or process any payment information. The App receives only a signal indicating whether your subscription is currently active. All billing is handled by Apple.
What We Do Not Collect
We do not collect advertising identifiers, crash logs, behavioral analytics, or any telemetry about how you use the App. We do not operate any server that receives your data. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
We do not intentionally collect information from children under the age of 13. If we discover we have inadvertently done so, we will promptly take all reasonable measures to delete it.
4. How We Collect Information
Directly from you: We collect the profile information you voluntarily enter in the App.
Through your use of the Service: The App collects location and motion data when you have granted the required permissions and the App is running.
We do not collect information from third-party data brokers or advertising networks.
5. How We Use Information
We use your information solely to provide the features of the App:
- Service delivery: Location and motion data are used to detect trips and record routes. Trip and site data populate the Dashboard, Trips, Reports, and Sites screens.
- Report generation: Profile data and trip records are used to generate and export mileage reports in PDF, CSV, and other formats.
- Subscription access: Subscription status is used to determine which features are accessible under your current plan.
- Safety and security: In limited circumstances, we may use information to protect the integrity of the Service.
We will not use your information for materially different or incompatible purposes without providing you notice.
6. How We Disclose Information
We do not sell, rent, lease, or share your personal information. We do not disclose it to third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. Disclosure is limited to the following narrow circumstances:
Apple iCloud / CloudKit
Your data syncs to your personal iCloud account via Apple’s CloudKit framework. This is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy at apple.com/legal/privacy. We do not have access to the content of your private CloudKit container.
Apple Maps (MKDirections)
When the App calculates a route distance cross-check, your trip’s start and end coordinates are sent to Apple’s Maps service. This is governed by Apple’s Maps privacy practices. No personally identifiable information beyond coordinates is included.
Apple StoreKit / App Store
Subscription transactions are processed by Apple. We do not receive payment information. Apple’s handling of transaction data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Law Enforcement and Legal Process
We may disclose information if required by law, court order, subpoena, or other legal or administrative process; to protect our rights or property; to protect the safety of users or others; or in connection with fraud prevention or a criminal investigation.
Sale or Acquisition of Assets
If EDU Plus Apps is acquired by or merged with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. If the surviving entity’s privacy practices differ materially from this Policy, we will provide notice before your information becomes subject to a different policy.
Exported Files
When you export a report (PDF, CSV) or site data (JSON) using the system share sheet, the file is handled by the app or service you choose. Once shared, that transfer is outside our control. We recommend sending mileage reports only to intended recipients such as your employer or payroll department.
7. iCloud Requirement
EDU Mileage+ requires iCloud to be enabled for the App. Your data is
stored in a private CloudKit container
(iCloud.com.eduplusapps.edumileageplus) associated with your
Apple ID. Only you can access this container.
If you disable iCloud for the App in iOS Settings, or sign out of your Apple Account, iOS will prevent the App from accessing its local database. Re-enabling iCloud restores access. This is standard iOS behavior for iCloud-backed apps.
8. Security
We use the security measures built into iOS and iCloud to protect your data, including device encryption and iCloud data protection. We do not operate any servers that store your data. However, no technology is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Data Retention
Your data persists on your device and in your iCloud account for as long as you choose to keep it. You control all data retention:
- Delete individual trips — swipe to delete in the Trips screen
- Delete reports — swipe to delete in the Reports screen
- Delete sites or districts — remove them in Settings
- Delete all app data — delete the App to remove the local database. To also remove iCloud data, go to Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → EDU Mileage+ and delete the stored data.
We do not retain copies of your data on any server we operate.
10. Your Rights and Choices
Location permission: You may change location access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → EDU Mileage+. The App requires “Always” access to track trips in the background.
Profile data: You may update or delete your profile information at any time in the User Profile section of Settings.
Subscription: You may manage or cancel your subscription at any time through Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your device.
Data deletion: You may delete any or all of your data at any time as described in the Data Retention section above.
11. Spam
We do not send unsolicited bulk email. We do not sell or disclose email address lists to third parties. We may send transactional or support emails in response to your inquiries.
12. Modifications to This Policy
We may update this Policy at any time. If we make material changes that affect your rights, we will provide at least 30 days’ advance notice via an announcement in the App. Your continued use of the App after the effective date of changes constitutes acknowledgement that the updated Policy applies.
